Committees
Program The program committee plans, coordinates and runs activities sponsored by CASCD that support the membership. Conferences, Dine and Discuss workshops and curriculum meetings are some of the venues used to promote curriculum and leadership topics of interest to our members. The Program Committee is composed of CASCD members who help to plan and implement these workshops and meetings. The committee meets monthly September through June and is the active force that coordinates speakers, presenters and programs. Committee meets the 1st Thursday of every month. Communications The Communications Committee assists with the writing, planning and publication of all CASCD member correspondence, including the newsletter and website. The committee meets on as as needed basis to select articles for publication and to determine the year's themes for each newsletter. In addition, the committee guides the continued development of the use of electronic communications for CASCD, the website, online activities, and support to our members. Stacy Chambers - Chairperson Laurelle Texidor Mary Lavoie Patrice Nelson Eric Yale Michael Valerio Annie Sweeney Influence and Advocacy The Advocacy and Influence Committee is a new committee being formed by the Board of Directors. The initial charge of the committee is to determine where and how CASCD can become a positive advocate and have a positive influence on teaching and learning activities, events, policies and procedures in Connecticut, districts, and schools. The committee has yet to meet to determine its meeting schedule. The committee's work typically begins in January and concludes in March with the presentation of a slate of officers and Board of Director candidates to the full Board of Directors. Membership Developing active membership in Connecticut ASCD is essential to the work of the organization. CASCD members have numerous opportunities to contribute in developing programs, creating publications, and assisting at conferences. The Membership Committee may meet several times per year when issues arise or work with Student Chapters in developing the skills necessary to be effective educators.
